Bread pudding should be savory (recipe)
Hi, i can’t find any proper savory bread pudding so here’s me putting it out in the world for those who got a bunch of stale bread but don’t really fancy sweet treat at the moment. i got you. It is POSSIBLE, bread pudding doesn’t have to be sweet.
Ingredients:
- 3-4 slices of bread
- 1 tbsp butter
- 2 whole eggs
- 200ml UHT milk
- salt & pepper (adjust the amount like how you usually make scrambled eggs from 2 eggs)
- a handful of sliced onion
- a handful of green onions
- a handful of shredded chicken
- 5 chopped bird’s eye chili (skip if you dont want it spicy)
- cheese for topping
Instructions:
- On a large bowl, crack 2 eggs, 1 tbsp of butter, beat it & add 200ml milk and the salt & pepper
- shred 4 slices of stale bread and soak it in the egg-milk mixture
- now sautee a handful of onion until caramalized, then add a handful of shredded chicken & chilis, add your green onions last, just enough until it slightly wilts but still bright in their green color
- kill the heat, and while you wait for these onion to cool down, transfer your bread thingy into your baking pan
- now combine everything & add your desired cheese on top
- bake in oven for 180 degrees celsius for 20 minutes
- clean your ktichen & wash the dishes while you wait
- enjoy while its still warm
this was my third attempt:

and this was the classic sweet bread pudding, but i used omega eggs + durian paste so that’s why the color is radioactive yellow 🤣

i wish i can attach my first ever savory bread pudding but that one was devoured within 5 minutes i didn’t even get the chance to take a picture
